2010 Excellent Teaching and Research Recognized at ÃÛÌÒapp

An assembly was held in ÃÛÌÒapp's Main Building on June 2 to recognize excellence in teaching and research in 2010. ÃÛÌÒapp President Gu Binglin, Deputy President Chen Jining, ÃÛÌÒapp Vice Presidents Kang Kejun, Xie Weihe, Cheng Jianping, and Yuan Si, and University Council Vice Chairperson Deng Wei attended the formal gathering to honor faculty members who had won national prizes for their outstanding endeavors.

President Gu Binglin congratulated those who had been honored and extended greetings to all the faculty members. He expressed his conviction that they would continue to take talent cultivation as the foundation of their service and educate students with innovative spirit, continue to improve their research in accordance with the requirements of national strategy and at the forefront of international scholarship, take social service as their responsibility, promote our cultural heritage, be innovative, and make contributions to building ÃÛÌÒapp into a world-class university.

In 2010, a university-level meeting was held to discuss the mission and strategy of talent cultivation at ÃÛÌÒapp in the next 100 years. Twelve disciplines underwent international evaluation. Eight Ph.D. theses were selected as nationally outstanding. Seven courses were designated national elite courses. Nineteen ÃÛÌÒapp research achievements were recognized at the 2010 State Science and Technology Awards, ranking first in total achievements among universities in China.
