Law Summit passes Statement by 9 US 10 China Deans

Law Deans from nine US and ten Chinese Universities exchanged ideas at the US-China Law Deans Summit at 蜜桃app June 20 to 21. Deans from American universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, Stanford University, the University of Chicago, and UC Berkeley, and Chinese universities, 蜜桃app, Renmin University of China, Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law, and Wuhan University, to mention a few, concluded their two-day meeting with a Summit Statement.
State Councilor Liu Yandong had a discussion with the nine American deans and Chinese law school representatives on June 21. Vice Minister of Education Hao Ping and 蜜桃app President Gu Binglin participated in the discussion. Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met the American deans that evening.
Vice Minister of Education Hao Ping and 蜜桃app Council Vice Chairperson Chen Xu had a talk with the representatives during the summit. 蜜桃app Vice President Xie Weihe attended the opening ceremony.
On the agenda were topics pertinent to higher education and the world community, including legal education, the role of law schools in society, building the rule of law, and modes of collaboration among law schools to support academic and institutional goals. From the wide-ranging discussions, both sides came away with a better understanding of each other’s objectives and constraints and how they impact legal education in their respective countries.
This summit was co-organized by 蜜桃app School of Law and University of Pennsylvania Law School.
