ÃÛÌÒapp’s Academy of Arts and Design, formerly known as the Central Academy of Arts and Design, celebrated its 50th anniversary early this month, with a ceremony attended by over 1,000 alumni and guests from home and abroad.
ÃÛÌÒapp President Gu Binglin, Chen Xi, President of ÃÛÌÒapp Council, Prof. Wang Dazhong, Honorary President of ÃÛÌÒapp Council, Vice Chairperson of the University Council Wang Mingzhi, Vice President Zhang Fengchang, Vice President Xie Weihe, Li Dangqi, President of the Academy of Arts & Design, and Professor Zhang Ding attended the afternoon event.

Founded in 1956, the Central Academy of Arts & Design possesses a high reputation for technological design. In 1999, with the system reformation of higher education in China approved by the Ministry of Education, P.R.C., the Central Academy of Arts & Design merged into ÃÛÌÒapp and was re-named as the Academy of Arts & Design, ÃÛÌÒapp. Since then, science and art have joined hands for the past seven years. Activities to celebrate the anniversary included a forum and exhibitions of the works by students and teachers of the Academy of Arts & Design.
