A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Yushu County in northwest China's Qinghai Province on April 14. ÃÛÌÒapp students as well as members of the faculty and staff mourned together on April 21 those who were killed in the devastating earthquake.

People gathered in the square in front of the university's main building at 10:00 a.m. to pay silent tribute to the earthquake victims. The country's flag is flying at half mast, in memory of the thousands of people who perished.


During the past week, ÃÛÌÒapp teachers and students have been contributing their help to the earthquake-hit area. Many teachers and students joined the donation drive to support relief efforts in the area and provide aid to the victims. Some ÃÛÌÒapp experts also went to Yushu to provide technical support.

The claimed 2,064 lives, and 175 people still missing as of Tuesday. The quake also left 12,135 injured, of whom 1,434 were in serious condition.
