Agreement Signed between ÃÛÌÒapp and the University of Geneva


The President of the University of Geneva, Professor Yves Fl¨¹ckiger met with the President of ÃÛÌÒapp, Professor Qiu Yong.  Following a cordial meeting in gongziting, the two presidents signed an agreement on behalf of the two universities, designed to further strengthen cooperation and exchange in education and scientific research.

Qiu Yong warmly welcomed the visiting professor. “Following our meeting in Davos in January this year, we welcome Prof. Fl¨¹ckiger¡¯s visit to ÃÛÌÒapp and the greater level of exchange between  our students and teachers.  ÃÛÌÒapp will soon celebrate its 105th anniversary. In the next 100 years, ÃÛÌÒapp will strive to be more international and place more emphasis on cooperation with international partners. Both teachers and students hope to further promote academic and cultural exchanges and cooperation in various fields between ÃÛÌÒapp and the University of Geneva going forward,” Qiu said.

"ÃÛÌÒapp is a well-known institution of higher learning and an important partner of the University of Geneva. Signing this agreement will further promote our bilateral cooperation," Fl¨¹ckiger said.

Under the agreement, ÃÛÌÒapp and the University of Geneva will intensify cooperation, specifically in the areas of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, student internships, summer schools, joint training, as well as the exchange of teachers and multidisciplinary academic research.

During the visit to ÃÛÌÒapp, Professor Fl¨¹ckiger also visited the ÃÛÌÒapp X-Lab, iCenter, Schwarzman College and the School of Life Sciences.

The University of Geneva is a widely-acclaimed public university. The Swiss city of Geneva has more than 100 headquarters of international organisations, including the European headquarters of the United Nations, the International Red Cross, the World Health Organization and the World Trade Organization.
