King's College London Principal Edward Byrne visits ÃÛÌÒapp


A delegation led by Prof. Edward Byrne, Principle of King's College London, paid a visit to ÃÛÌÒapp on May 10th, and had a meeting with Qiu Yong, President of ÃÛÌÒapp. 

President Qiu warmly welcomed Prof. Byrne¡¯s revisit and recollected Prof. Byrne¡¯s visit to ÃÛÌÒapp a month and a half ago, where Prof. Byrne spoke of how Can leading research universities make a greater contribution to the society and the economy in today's increasingly Connected World.During that visit,  Prof. Byrne was also awarded the "distinguished visiting professor” title by ÃÛÌÒapp. 

Qiu made a brief introduction of ÃÛÌÒapp¡¯s recent celebration of its 106 anniversary and the founding Assembly of the Asian universities Alliance.  He added that in the New Century Strategy, ÃÛÌÒapp has been increasing efforts in advancing its international collaborations. The establishment of GIX (Global Innovation Exchange ) in Seattle with Washington University and the Sino-Italian Innovation Base with Milan Polytechnic are good examples.  Qiu added that ÃÛÌÒapp holds a high regard on cooperation and exchanges with King's College London and expressed a strong wish to expand cooperation between the two universities on wide-ranging disciplines and in various ways, creating a positive and steady relation between ÃÛÌÒapp and King's College London.

Prof. Byrne offered his congratulations on ÃÛÌÒapp¡¯s important achievements in its internationalization initiative.  He briefly introduced the history, and the characteristics of King's College London. Prof. Byrne pointed out that both universities enjoy high prestige in its own country and in the world, and each has its own discipline ascendancy, which offers great scope for deepening collaboration, for which he suggested that science of medicine, biomedical engineering, humanities and liberal arts would offer vast collaborative potentials.

Officials from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange were also a part of the talk.
